Easter Weekend

We had a wonderful visit from my parents for Easter weekend.  Saturday was absolutely gorgeous.  I am beginning to think that Spring really is coming to our neck of the woods.  With the forecast for rain on Sunday, we had an Easter egg hunt on Saturday.  The smaller three had a bunch of eggs hidden around the yard that have different amounts of change in them.  The bigger three have one bigger egg that has a $10 bill inside.  No one seems to be too big to find an egg with 10 bucks inside!  It was fun.  The kids all end up with $10 and they love doing this every year with my parents!

The three little kids helped me make Easter Nests on Friday.  I got the recipe from Food.com and got the ingredients beforehand.  They liked making them and they were festive.  Here is a picture of how they turned out.

Vacation Photos

We have been back for a few days now and I feel myself starting to get a grip again!  Finally.  Anyway, we had a wonderful time.  We only traveled to a state park about 30 minutes from home, but with 6 children, we need a lot of stuff to make it through a week away.  The kids brought bikes, skateboards, scooters, swimming gear, sand toys etc.  We had wonderful weather for the first few days, but then it got really, really, hot.  Our last afternoon, we had a terrible storm with lightning, high winds, and lots of rain.  Our power was out at home, so my husband and 13-year-old son headed home early to get the generator up and going to save our freezer and fridge food from going bad.

All in all it was so wonderful to be away from the same old, same old,  day-to-day stuff.  It was nice to just have all day to have fun and do whatever the kids wanted.  They could swim, go to the commissary, go to the swings etc.  M, read a lot of the time, J worked on his grilling, they all loved getting candy and such at the commissary.  T and S took long bike rides every day.  J golfed twice with my dad.  We played Texas Hold Em with my dad’s poker chips that we got him several years ago for Christmas.  A swam and swam.  It was really nice.

All said, I am glad we did it, but I’m also glad to be home.  Back to reality.  Here are some shots from our trip.
